The masterplan: removing roads to form a human-scale urban place

Redcliffe Way, Neighbourhood Development Plan

Neighbourhood Development Plan

A neighbourhood plan has been agreed for this area in central Bristol. Our contribution focussed on the vision for movement in the area.

Redcliffe is buried within the city centre. Sitting beside the docks and near Temple Meads station it has a rich urban history. But its quality as a place has for too long been downgraded by the dominance of Redcliffe way as a highway artery severing the local community from the city centre close by. The plan addresses this issue at its core by downgrading the road and reducing over engineered carriageways to form a new urban street for all forms of movement.
