Structuring future growth through polycentric development at West Winch and South Wootton
Over the next 25 years Kings Lynn is planning for significant growth, both within its urban core and around the edges of the town. Like many other places this growth raises significant challenges at a number of levels. At the strategic scale the towns movement profile will alter considerably meaning significant changes are needed to highway and public transport systems, whilst at a local level there is much concern from communities about how growth will affect existing places.
We are working with King's Lynn Borough Council, Norfolk County Council and local community groups to establish the principles of growth for 5000 new homes to the East of the town. As part of this work we have helped organise two major enquiry by design charrettes. This work has led to the successful inclusion of significant parcels of land within the core strategy and 2000 homes are now part of a first phase of development.
