Strategic engineering for a new mixed-use urban extension to Reykjavick
We have worked in Iceland for many years advising on transport and street design.
Like many other places, over the past fifty years, Reykjavick and the other smaller towns in the country have suffered from high levels of suburban sprawl with housing estates lacking the local identity that is so rich in historic places.
Our initial dialogue with political leaders and stakeholders helped inform thinking on how places like Reyjavick should grow. At Urridaholt old thinking has changed, new thinking is in place and a new development of urban streets has started to grow around a new mixed use centre. The planned development is large and construction will continue for a number of years.
We continue to advise on urban engineering issues.
